Koppel / Colley / Blade Collective

Benjamin Koppel (DK), Scott Colley (US) and Brian Blade (US) met in Copenhagen, Denmark in 2012 when playing two sold-out shows together at  Summer Jazz (sub of Copenhagen Jazz Festival). Koppel and Colley had worked together before, but when Blade joined the two, magic happened. And shortly after the show, they decided to do a trio tour as a collective.

Album in the making
The collective’s second album was recorded in spring 2016 and is exspected to be released in July 2016 during the Summer Jazz Festival i Copenhagen, when the trio will performed two concerts at Betty Nansen Teatret.

The Music
Blade’s creativity blended perfectly with Colley’s strong improvisations, topped by Koppel’s lyrical sax playing. All three musicians writes music for this trio and the coming album in order to make the new group fresh and exciting. The music stretches from the quiet, beautiful ballad-alike jazz, to the more powerful, energetic rock-influenced sub-genres.
