Cannonball & Coltrane Tribute

For the first time ever, two of Scandinavia’s leading jazz saxophonists: Tomas Franck (SE) and Benjamin Koppel (DK) – are playing together. Their first concert played together was at the Winter Jazz 2014 festival in Copenhagen. Koppel and Franck celebrated the legendary jazz collaboration between two of the greatest saxophone players in jazz history: Cannonball Adderley and John Coltrane. These two musicians are primarily known for their cooperation with Miles Davis and his legendary Kind of Blue album from 1959. However, they also made an LP without Miles Davis, Cannonball & Coltrane, that later went down in history.

The music from this later album as the very pivot of the concerts. Other than the two saxophonists, the ensemble also consists of a Scandinavian all star rhythm group with Daniel Franck (SE), Niels Jørgen Steen (DK) and Alex Riel (DK).

Line up:
Tomas Franck (tenor sax)
Benjamin Koppel (alto sax)
Niels Jørgen Steen (piano)
